find your local careers office and get yourself down there mate, anything you could possibly want to know will be answered by serving officers, plus they have alot of literature. ive still got some indoors from when i was thinking about joining up, and its still a possibility for me now

You could phone up RAF bases directly and ask to speak to people, they are very helpful. Speak to those doing the job you'd like to do. RAF bases usually have sites and contact details, if you get stuck I may be able to help you out with a contact number at RAF Marham. Do a search for some bases local to you.

Go for NCO Aircrew. I've served for eight and a half years now as an engineer and often wish I'd taken it when offered. I love being an Armourer but Loadie was what I should have done looking back. I just wasn't interested at the time. 1 A level means nothing when you are in. I know fast jet pilots who had none. Joined as airmen and used the service to get where they are now. There's plenty there for the taking. If you go for a comissioned post, expect to get slagged by the lads because, officer or not, you are brand new and worthless to us. Respect it earned, it doesn't come with the rank! Same with NCO aircrew but to a lesser extent. "Proper" senior NCO's will have little time for young aircrew gobshi*es. I dont mean to scare you off but all I am getting at is go at it with the right attitude. Good blokes will get on fine. Remember you are no better than anybody else. The most junior LAC can keep an Air Commodore on the ground if the mood should take him/her (I've seen it happen). This is comming from an NCO too by the way so it's not some kid spouting off!
