Technical Hard to select reverse.

Hi.
I am struggling to select reverse.
Has been getting slowly worse over the past two years.

Not helped by ill health.
Anyway i got the covers off (pic).
For a good look at it.
I can feel some resistance in the LH cable at the collar.
I have used my day's energy ration.
Plan some spray oil next visit.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

If it’s the same engine off

And especially if the leaver feel a little stiffer to move

It’s likely to need a new cable

I had one where it struggled to select first

I put some light oil down the cable from the gearbox end and that cured it for awhile but did change the cables in the end

Pop the shifter cables off the gearbox. If they move smoothly, it's likely you have a worn clutch that's not releasing properly.

Thanks to everyone for the help.
Cables were the job.
Back to super slick again.

Mechanic fixed it today.
Back to smooth gear changes.
