Happy Xmas 2025

20211213_235310 (Small).jpg

From all of us here at the forum, we wish everyone a very merry Xmas - hoping everyone gets what they asked for, and 2026 brings you all new joy :)

And if anyone wants to share what they're up to - feel free to attach to this thread :)

We don't officially have Xmas out here in Taiwan, however luckily enough there is a public holiday that also falls on 25 so at least everyone can still have the day off!

No turkeys, but buckets of chicken and fries!

Have a great day y'all!

Only just noticed the 50 years of Mazda.:) It was 1975 when I moved to a Mazda Dealership and worked on Mazda 1000s, 818s, 626s, 929s, RX2s and Rx3s, B1600 pick up trucks, I left there around 1982 to go self employed and the rear wheel drive 323s had just come out. Apart from those earlier models not catering for taller drivers, I found their cars well built and reliable, although thinking back there were several modifications on OHC timing chains. Single row chains, double row chains, five tooth ratchet tensioners then seven tooth and hydraulic ones.:)

50+ now, in fact next Jan 21st will be 55 exactly to the day I bought my Mazda 1200 Coupé. Still a Mazda man at heart. Never been disappointed by one but these days they've lost that quirky 'different' character, so in 2013 I was enticed away by a brief drive in a 500. Still got a CX3 in the drive however, only now it's the missus car. RX2's, RX3's, RX4's, Capellas, Cosmo's - those were the days. I worked at Mazda Australia in the warranty dept for a few years and picked up some nice mementos too. Zoom, Zoom! 🙃

I forgot the RX4s. At the time RX3s were dying left right and centre and three year old ones were only fetching £300.
The most common effect was throwing all the water out like a head gasket job, it was the rubber side seals failing nearest to the spark plugs, Mazdas modification was a tin shim in that area to deflect the heat from the "combustion" area.:)
Most customers never kept them long after that to see if it was effective.

RX4 Coupé was my dream car. I never actually owned a rotary though, in fact half my cars were commercial vehicles, three vans (including an F1000 Bongo) and a ute, operated as private cars - anything out of the ordinary. 🙃
I agree re the RX4 Coupe, but a 1.6 Mazda 818 looked as a good as the RX3 but without the hassle. The Mazda B1600 (ute) was quite a good vehicle and went well for those days.
I ran a Mazda 1000 estate for a while, it was one I had serviced for several years and very low mileage, apart from when the owner drove back home to Italy on holiday it spent most of it's life parked outside his restaurant on the seafront so bodywork took a hammering.

I think most of the 808/818 series succumbed to rust, even in Oz. Easy cars to service and even moi could replace a head gasket. A girlfriends car ended up with two stacked gaskets due to the head being skimmed once too often! ;)

The 1977 323 (RWD) that replaced it was a nice car, though my favourite, the 1985 B2000 Cab-Plus SDX ute, lasted me 25 years...

Never dreamed I'd replace it with a FIAT!🙃
