General GT28 Turbo

General GT28 Turbo

i'll admit i only briefly looked at the pics. if i was seriously considering it i would have looked at these things.

But it does say its been recently completely rebuilt - prob not the same owner as when it had all them advisorys for rust and low oil

Still totally worth a look in my opinion - its either been done properly or it hasn't and it will be pretty obvious when you have the car in front of you. The fact the bay is white and there is nothing visible to indicate it was once red is a good thing really as long as it really is the original shell..

End of the day, how rare is a good solid straight mk1? really really rare. Just cause a car was once a lemon doesn't really mean it must still be - it appears to have had alot of effort and money thrown at it, just need to be wary as you always should be when buying an unknown car from an unknown person. Colour change on V5 is nothing to worry about so long as the numbers all match up.

If I was seriously in market i would be going to look at it for sure.

Before and after down pipe. The Chinese parts didn't fit so I had to cut the original flange and weld to the new down pipe. Not my best work but a damn sight better than before.

Wrapped to protect the alternator and bulk head items.

My shed has a new trophy hanging from the ceiling. :)

A days work and it looks like I have done nothing; but the engine is now even better than before. Smooth, no flat spot between 1,200 and 2,000 rpm and I can now drive at 30mph in fifth without spluttering.

GT28 parts didn't fit? So I don't have a GT28 turbo or GT25 at all. :(
No idea what it was and I'm sure the chap who told me was passing on what he had been told.

Re: GT28??? Turbo

Gratuitous "for sale" shots. ;)

And the pedantic fog light shot.

Sold. I'm off to Disneyland! Oh no Rochdale. Easy to get those mixed up.

Love the engine. Pretty much tolerate the rest of it. ;)

I'll continue the thread as I've had a pretty off the wall idea for the five door. No it does not and will not involve any engine swap. My Coupe is safe.

For now.

I've just picked up the £50 five door and am amazed how good the car is.

Very clean and tidy Punto 60S, silly wheels (and bolts), CD player, weird mounted open air sub in the boot, dog hair but no smell and only a few jobs for MOT. :)

Not bad at all eh?

The 60S feels like a Land Rover compared to the GT and soooooo slow! I sat there looking at my right foot, looking at the speedometer creeping up thinking something was seriously wrong and there's a blank space where the boost gauge is supposed to be. :D

Oh, that's right.

As predicted...

...the outer wishbone bush on the drivers side is dead...

...and taken the inner edge of the tyre with it.

Rusty brake lines and flexipipes...

...might clean up but better off being replaced.

Knackered leaking shocks...

...and knackered anti-roll bar buses all round.

Looks like this is going to be a parts car. :(

Nearly new exhaust, down pipe and rear section...

...leaking from the join where it has (probably never) been clamped properly...

...and...

...BLACK FECKIN' SILI--FLIPPING-CONE!!!! Instead of a £2.99 gasket. :bang:

Never mind. I've just sold the wings and bonnet for £100

Re: Nissan Z32 VG30DETT M24/T25 Passenger side turbo

when you will remove them from car, can you put one on scale, i am wondering how much they weigh, if they are rly lightweight

Me to. It's a shame I don't have a standard Punto GT wheel for comparison.

that is a lancia thema wheel if i am not mistaken flisko.. It will not be hard for them BSA wheels to be lighter than GT/Sporting wheels, the factory wheels are not lightweight! Fiat is pretty good at making heavy wheels haha, most of them are pretty damn strong though.
They are actually not bad for a set of aftermarket wheels, bit 'spindly' for the mk1 punto slab sided-ness though

Frisko How many of those do you have? They are pre-face lift Tipo Sedicivalvore option wheels and worth about £400 a set in good condition.

I had some on my Uno and a guy bought the whole car just for them.

Back on topic.

The five door was a bust but is donating parts to the GT. Missing door trim, parcel shelf with no speaker holes, boot carpet, jack and brace kit. I've taken the manual sunroof out I'll see if it fits as the electric one has a rusty frame.

Looks like the chap who wanted to buy it has bailed so all these little repairs are adding value.

Woooo-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaa!
