Technical gp.t-jet/120hp/ gear box vs. m-jet gear box ???

Hi , i have a 2008 1.4 t-jet/120hp,5 speed/ grande punto,i try to find out, if i can put in a 6 speed/2009 1.3m-jet sport/ gear box.Some mechanic say yes,somebody told me DONT put it in /every gears gonna be shorter like a rally car end the top speed will be max.160km/h./
If anybody know anything , its will be helpfull.THANKS

I'd have thought it would be the other way around given that diesels have higher gearing than petrols.

I know the t-jet is a bit busy at motorway speeds but swapping the gearbox is going to cost you a lot of money and reduce the value of your car. Either live with it as it is, or if you spend lots of time on the motorway, sell the t-jet and buy a diesel.
 
Ps. The abarth has an m32 gearbox like the m-jet but with ratios suited to a petrol.

Pps. The m32 has a pretty poor reputation, the bearings can fail and it costs a lot to rectify.
