Golf Mk idle speed

Hi, my mate has jus bought a J reg golf mk2, 1.3 an wen you start it its very sluggish while ideling, even when it is warm, but is sound wen its driving, we thort about trying to turn up the idle speed, but not sure how too do it, any help would be grately appriciated many thanks in advance

Start by having a look to see if there are any air/vacuum leaks especially onto the throttle body. Check to see if the throttle body itself is dirty - if it is try cleaning it out - old toothbrush is v good and be careful when restarting if using brake cleaner etc
