Yes, I did it again, had a go at somebody for being an idiot, this time fogs and sidelights on whilst it was bright enough for me to still need sunglasses on yesterday, it was a nice black Zafira. So he got my main beam flashed on him 5-6 times. Next thing I know he pulls in. Great I think! Maybe he's going to look to see what's wrong with his car to find out why I flashed him. But no, he swings his car around (U-turn - VERY wide road coming up to Nottingham ring road) and starts coming up the hill after me.

I think "why do this always happen to me?!" so I have to then go the opposite way as usually at the roundabout (traffic lights the other way - worried he would get me there) and this time, I had learnt my lesson, no speeding, just knowing that if i am doing 30 and he is doing 50, he might catch me but he can't do anything else. I took the first left and then went down a tight road of speed bumps heading towards Hyson Green police station in anticipation that this guy was serious. After a few more turns (which made me know the U-turn wasn't a coincidence) he just sat at the top of this long road whilst I went down it over the speed bumps a little too quickly and did nothing.

I worried at this point, does he intend to go around and cut me off or something? He just sat there for 10 seconds, then reversed back out of the road and went off somewhere. Needless to say I kept moving away from where he would have been and went a very long way home!

Maybe he wanted to know why I flashed him? Who knows. I wasn't sticking around to find out, the sort of person who has his fogs on etc. in that light isn't the sort of person I want to advise on such a matter. I also had a women behind me in traffic (a much softer target ;) ) who was sat on her phone for ages behind me (not just in traffic, but that's when I had chance to tell her to get off it). Why do people driving very expensive cars think that their phone call is worth more than my safety and they can't even be bothered to spend a fiver on a cheap handsfree kit!?!

So I reckon now having participated in 2 get away drives, I can offer myself up for hire ;)

I have really got to stop my "you're invincible attitude"! All it takes is some idiot with a knife at traffic lights and I don't see any more lights :(

Paul, you will learn.

We have all been there, done that. It is sometimes not worth it with the attitude of other drivers. However, having two FAST cars helps - plus local knowledge i.e. not getting caught up in traffic or at lights, etc. Every time, I say never again, until next time.

Why? Both are breaking the law, the phone one can injure and kill far more than that one man against the woman. At the pedestrian crossing next to my dad's school, the kids were crossing and a 4x4 mowed them all down, it turned out the male driver was on his phone, 2 girls were in combers for a week and the other two girls had various broken bones, bruised ribs etc. Yes, the guy carried on driving, all the way to the police station at which point he gave himself up. And yes, my dad was blamed for nothing having multiple crossing patrols and more adult supervision for crossing roads within the area of the school - despite the crossing being a fair short walk away.

Still think it's in any way different? The above isn't fiction, it happened about two years ago, thankfully they all survived, but what if they hadn't? I would like you to tell me if your attitude has changed after me telling you that, if not, I would like to know why if possible.

Granted, with fogs it's less of a threat, but still annoying and needless and can distract you from your normal driving/confuse you with multiple lights.

Oh and cheers Gaz lol, will keep you in mind!

Stu; as you say, the only thing that has meant i can keep away from people like this is massive local knowledge. If they can chase you twice as quick as yourself, the only way to get away is to be taking turns before they can see which way you're going. That way, the possible turns they have to take grows exponentially.

Must have been a real pain in Roman times - straight roads everywhere, no where to turn!

haha, what a odd thing to say!!! Funny though!

Maybe people learnt when and when not to use fogs in those days? Who knows :p;)

lol, yeah, good point, I reckon it's important that anybody intending to hire me must know I don't break speed limits.
