Hi there I have an old 07 petrol Fiat Punto and since I’ve has it there has been issues with the intermittent supply of heat / cold air, it was working for a while on setting 4 and then it completely went and it’s baltic right now and trying to de ice it requires an hour hah! I ordered a new harness off eBay however the colours don’t match up to the existing wires and the diagrams of the heating system on this forum people have posted over time just leave me even more baffled as none of the wires from the car are grey.

The new one came with the colours black, blue, red, green and yellow.

The existing wires are blue & red, yellow & green, green, brown and the other one looks brown also or could be orange?

I don’t know which ones I’m connecting too and obviously don’t want to make an even bigger mess. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi.

I would have bought the vauxhall loom section..as it just plugs in.

As I hate electrics.

Look at Andys GUIDE in the FAQS.

BASIC FUNCTION.
FAN SWITCH positions:
1 :3 volts
2 :6
3 :9
4 :12 volts

If you only had 4 working.. your resistor was having

No Effect... worth checking the rest of loom for overheating.

You only need to connect the output and earth correctly..

The fan speeds are just connections ;)

Hi Buttonspoons,
Did you manage to wire it up as I have the same problem?

No unfortunately - mechanic couldn’t get it working either, someone tried to parallel park against my punto not long after the heating was impossible to fix so I switched to a Peugeot 108 and traded it in - too cold in scotland to cope with the hassles of un fogging the windscreen 80 times a day!

Thats a shame..

It sounds as if that wasnt the thing stopping it run either

The reality is youve got '4 of a type.. and an odd one'

A meter would soon confirm what is earth..and what is power

As I wrote a while ago..
A meter will see 3.6.9 and 12 volts depending on switch position

Thanks, im crap with wiring! I have s multimeter but no clue how to use it!!!
I get the voltage bit for each wire (ish) but just need someone to day... the red one on the clip goes to the orange wire on the car, the green to green, black to blue etc or whatever the order is.
Appreciate any help?
