General Funny running since HG Change

Since getting the moneypit back from the garage, its been running a little strange.

The idle is a little lumpy and black water spots are coming out the exhaust.
Checked the usual suspects, all sensors plugged in and secure, the vacuum hose to the ECU is connected.

Its quite thirsty now. We used to get at least 200 miles to £20 (give or take a little for recent fuel hikes) but now its no more than 150miles and your on fumes.

Its gone from 47MPG to 35.
I though it could be the ECU learning its settings but its covered a good few hundred miles!

It sounds like the camshaft pulley moved a bit.. maybe a tooth or two "out".

Hmm interesting.

Power seems to be there though, seems a little more lively than before.
Although that could be down to me now being used to driving a 2tonne Delica.

Black water spots sounds not to good lol. Are they oilly at all? and how big/much are they?

that could be just coolant condensed in the cat and 'zaust from the old HG. I had this for a while till it all spluttered out/evaporated - you'd be suprised how much was in there when i seperated it to inspect - it was like seperating a drainpipe on a rainy day lol.

I am having similar running problems after a H/G change.

I have to re-shim my cam and followers, so am going to check for the third time that the cam belt timing isnt out
