Hi all
Johan here from SA
Anyone can help me on a question about fuel hose?

On my 2007 Fiat Strada 1.2 8v i have pulled the fuel pump to replace it with a new pump.
I see that the pipe coming out of the fuel pump going to the top of the fuel pump housing is a hard type of plastic pipe and is "heat shrinked" on both ends...
In order to replace the fuel pump the following questions
1) what type of pipe is this?
2)How do i remove this pipe off the fuel pump without damaging it?
3)How do i get this pipe onto the new fuel pump?
4)is there any alternative to this "style or way" of pipe?

See attached sample pic of what i mean

Thank you
Johan

Others may have better advice, but I am guessing you intend to just fit the pump not the whole assembly which is the normal practice these days?
So you intend to just fit the pump to your existing filter/fuel tank unit etc?
If so it maybe possible to fit a good quality fuel resistant rubber hose in place of the plastic pipe, possible using stainless steel hose Jubilee clips or better crimp type of the correct size.
Stainless so the clip doesn't rust into the tank.
The important thing is to ensure there is no air leaks introduced into your fuel system.
You may be able to slacken the grip of the old hard plastic using a hot air gun or even boiling water, no naked flames :) if very careful a sharp knife , but easy to damage fittings.
