Moral of the story - never wash your car!

Told you petrol was better :p
;)
Petrol would have been WORSE for me
As just like the thinners I used it would have actually brought up a shine to previously MaTT paint . . .by taking a very fine film of the top surface of paint off on the cotton rag [old T-shirt] I used

I wanted to keep the FLaTness :bang:

BUT for you and your "start" sticker
petrol or Thinners will be the best thing to use
:yeahthat:
So you win :ROFLMAO:

Found this picture on Retro Rides
DSC00161.jpg

Makes me think that even in matt black the Oz Route's MaY not look right for the car

Please don't scour the paint, I beg you, make it SHINY like it WANTS to be!
:yeahthat:

ok OK OK OK.. . :shakehead:

I'll leave it NATURAL . . just for YOU
appart from the rusty bits which I shall ATTacK with the GRinDeR...and dose with anti-rust-fluid

BUT don't ask me to PoLiSH iT :nono:

It shall remain with an 'au naturale' un-restored LooK

Oh YeaH . . and I won't be washing it again . . EVER! :ROFLMAO:
what a FLiPPin' waste of time THAT was!

OK
Opinions PLEASE . . . . . . . .

Have to admit that these Ruote OZ rims are growing on me
but in a GaY WaY....!!!
Might just be that the 185/55s are slightly smaller that the 185/60s on the Cromorodas on the front
May just black out the centre of one of the Ruote OZ rims to see if it makes it look any better...

I like them, and I also like what you wrote on the pics :)
I like the shine on them compared to the darkness of the car.

YeaH
Sarah my Wife says she likes them for that reason as well
She agrees they look a little 'GaY' . . . as in they make the car look LeSS AGreSSive
So I'm going to sort out the other two tyres and then fit all four of the Ruote OZ's

Then maybe later I'll try blacking out the centre criss-cross centre section and highly polish the outer rims. . .

Found a GReen MeaNiE that looks a little like our Uno...well abit like it . . .
Its a MaD Cabrio

Note the SHiNE on the bonnet...! (y)

I missed your latest pics on this thread ::ROFLMAO::
Is it a bad thing if the wheels look GaY? :p
They look good at a distance, so much better with the low-profile tyres, but up close we see the alloy corrosion... they need to be polished up BRIgHT and SHiNY... hey I'm getting the hang of these lowercase letters in the middle of capitals...

I reckon you should make your wheels awesomely good to help compensate for that nasty rough look of the rest of the car

Seeing that muscle car reminds me, I wonder if you have seen the movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_Drive_(film) that involves a Pontiac GTO belonging to the kid driver's homophobic and highly "AGreSSive" older brother (who turns out to be gay). I thereby reach the conclusion that muscle cars really are gay... :p

OK ok . . . I already knew you like BRIGHT and SHiNy tings....(y)
Not sure about the flip-flop iridescent pearl of that green cabrio....;)
If I can find some cost effective 175/50 R13 the full set of four X1/9 Gan FInale Ruote Oz's will get fitted to the FiaT
AND I have already accepted that I need the wheels to look FLASH . . . while the rest of the car looks TRaSH . . . :yum:
Thinking attack the outer rim with wet'n'dry and then polish and then clear laq
For the cross-spoke centres I'm now thinking bright light blue metallic on the face of the spokes and stick with the existing anthracite background inside the spokes
I know . . I know . . . this sounds a little 'GaY'
BUT if I do it myself and then don't like it I can always default to RaTTLe can MaTT BLaCK
As fo Muscle Cars

Ah, but muscle cars were NOT big by American standards of the time - they were actually 'compact' to mid size cars. The 'big' part of them was the large capacity V8 engines they put in them giving them rather good power to weight ratios for laying down rubber over the 1/4 mile stop light drag strips. Remember as well, most well specified muscle cars had the brawn to match their looks. What they often didn't have was the brakes to bring them to a halt from their 1/4 mile runs as drum brakes were often standard equipment and disc brakes were often optional!

In many ways the European hot hatch wars of the 80's employed a similar philosophy. Stick a large capacity/ high powered engine into a small hatchback to give good power to weight ratios and exceptional performance. Most hot hatches started off at 1.3 - 1.6 litres. By the end of the 80's the Vauxhall Astra had 2 litres, the VW Golf had 1.8, the Pug 205 had 1.9, the Renault 19 had 1.8 (I think) and even the Strada Abarth had a 2 litre twin cam. The little Uno Turbo meanwhile made do with a smaller engine but turbocharged, much like the Renault 5 GTT, which gave the smaller engines the performance equivalence of much larger engines.

So don't knock the muscle cars - they are some of the coolest cars that the Yanks have ever made

Those actually suit the car, goes well with the massive grill 'mouth' :D

Number plate is straight. ;)

New wing mirrors?

Bullet-holes are an excellent idea! :D
Oh wait... there's a pattern to them, why? (other than that they are not actually meant to look like bullet holes ;) )

One new fog light! :D

New rear wheels?

New rear wheels?
Top Marks (y)
YuP numberplate straight...but now LoW and offset to suit the asymmetric look

Passenger door mirror removed [more aerodynamic now]

Drivers door mirror replaced with '70s bullet/racer look one [suits the Track Rat LooK and also more aerodynamic now] also suits the asymmetric look

Single new foglight off ebay fitted into none foglight bumper [just don't look behind the bumper to see my BoDGe bracket!] also suits the asymmetric look

X1/9 Gran Finale Ruote Oz cross-spoke alloy rims on the rear....waiting to find some 17/50 R13 tyres to fit the full set of four to the car

As for the bullet holes....
NoPE
those are allen drive head stainless steel bolts and washers through the existing holes you get in an Uno boot hatch for your badges and the numberplate fixings
Did this as a simple way of sealing those holes in the rear hatch to stop the water/damp getting into the boot and misting up the rear screen
This pic gives a better idea....they kind of look like the car version of BODY PIERCINGS

The one you didn't spot
Clear lens Range Rover Sport front indicator repeater fitted to the passenger side wing

Again this with the original amber one still on the drivers side also suits the asymmetric look of the car

Oh and finally the obvious silver painted towing eyes and galv shackles with galv chain hanging off them..... just long enough to be off the ground...till you brake...then the dip of the cars suspension means the chain touches the tarmac and makes a lurvely scraping sound as you are braking

Umm, well, I couldn't possibly comment.  :D

Chas is right, I guess muscle cars are some of the better efforts of the American motor industry, but at the end of the day, drivers are, well :tosser:

The other night I found some old tax discs for sale on eBay
The seller had been good enough to scan and upload really good quality images of them
Got me thinking
How's about an age related tax disc for the first year the car was on the road..... ;)
FOUND a 1993 one and it was for a FIAT as well
'shopped the original REG out with the clone tool
printed it out
wrote in FucT FiaTs REG in back biro
Then down to the motorshop for an appropriate second tax disc holder
and here is the result

Will be funny to see if anyone notices it
Particularly TRaffic Wardens, CSO's, RoZZeRs......
AND if they say anything :rumour:

That looks really good. :)

Though, I am somewhat perplexed as to your decision to advertise FF to the passenger...

Wher'd you get the Picasso-esque seat covers?

It kinda works when you take a driving photo from the passenger seat

ANIMAL shop sale . . . . . only a fiver!!(y)

Latest is that I have been playing with stencils, masking tape, matt black rattle cans and taking the rear quarter windows out to have fun
