I have a bravo HGT, and the handbrake has been frozen on every morning for the last week. Any ideas on why it happens and what can be done to stop it ?

thanks

Sorry if an answer to this has been already posted, I tried typing this into the search and it didnt work !

leave your car in gear instead. If you leave it facing down hill leave it in reverse, if you leave it facing uphill leave it in 1st

leaving the handbrake on in the cold is asking for trouble!

Re: Re: frozen handbrake

thanks.........did that on sunday and the bastard froze off !! hmmmm any other thoughts ? I have to leave it in the sun to defrost. Haven't made it in to work before 1000 for a week !

Re: Re: Re: frozen handbrake

freezing off is no prob, i had an uno before the bravo, if anyone ever owned one they will know that the handbrake only works the day of the mot, they slacken themselves off after about 2 uses.

Seriously, i've never had one freeze off, i've never looked where the handbrake linkage goes so i don't know if there is anywhere abvious it will freeze.

I had the same prob this morning, hand brake had frozen on driverside, thought after driving for a bit it might free, but it didn't and the brake was well hot so stopped and let it defrost and free it self before I carried on. Have left it without the handbrake on tonight so as not to have a repeat tomorrow.

There are rubber boots near the rear brake calipers they are most probobley split.
They let water in and the obvious happens, replace them
