Gearbox noisy when frozen

Hi my 2000 1.6 brava gearbox was pretty noisy in netutral when starting up over the weekend having been sitting at -8 for a few nights.

Noise was like a continuous scaping metal. Loud enough to hear from the drive. Went away with the clutch depressed. Got better over time when car warmed up, and became barely noticeable and not continuous. Gear change is OK and drives OK. Both the drive shaft boots weep a little (and have done for several years), but fluid level probably not that low.

Any ideas or guesses of likely cost?

First just change the gearbox oil.
