When I use my front wash/wipe, I get what seems to be a small tsunami over my windscreen, sunroof, passing people etc, but the wipers don't kick in unless I flick the stalk to one of the settings.

Any ideas?

Also anyone got a spare towing eye? Mines missing.

It's wrong, so very, very wrong.........

isnt that just because the wipers aren't meant to kick in until you make them - i know the rear does but the front doesnt

I think the auto wash/wipe is only available on certain models. I had it on my HGT and have it on my Marea, but not sure about models lower in the range.

Only the higher models had it - like Rob sais

Oh, my HGT hasn't got auto wash/wipe. I have to push the stalk up and pull to make them work at the same time. I think its a fiat thing as my sisters punto and my old uno was the same.

One of Fiats better features, nothing more annoying than the wipers starting up automatically when you spray the screen.

was that comment sarcastic or serious?! Why would you not want the wipers to start when you spray the screen?!

Serious. You can get the screen nice and wet before flicking the wipers and clean it in 1 go.

With autowipe the first couple of wipes just smears the screen.

It is not a good idea to run dry wiper blades over a dusty windscreen.
IMHO 'no auto wipe' was a stroke of genius.

Is it me, or am I failing to see the argument here ? Auto wash/wipe sprays water on to the screen for a good few seconds before the wipers kick in. This is no different to how you would do it manually.

I agree with Mark that running wipers "dry" isn't great for the blades or the sh*t on the screen, but unless it's raining or you empty half the washer tank on your screen before wiping, I can't see how the auto feature is any different to a manual procedure.

Ah, well, that's a different matter.

My Marea (and my HGT IIRC) all wait a few seconds before commencing the wipe. My Mondeo was the same. It would be most infuriating for them to start instantly.

"Auto wash/wipe sprays water on to the screen for a good few seconds before the wipers kick in."

"Saab VW etc.. the wipers start instantly."
So did my Teapot.

"Any way of getting it work on mine?"

Yes.

1) Pull stalk towards you
2) Push stalk up
