right have bought some 17cm adapters for my bravo hlx "x"reg but these do not seem to fit in the slightest i can line 2 of the holes up but then the other 2 are miles off... have tryed it every way round and still no luck the only ones that look as though they will line up anything like are the small ones on it for the speakers to attach to... the speakers fit in fine it's just attaching them to my door...

anyone got these and had problems fitting them???

Cheers
Adam

If you say the holes align with the holes for the speaker, so why don't you kill two birds with one stone and put a screw through the speaker, speaker hole on bracket then through to the door. If your catching on. :)

Easiest would be would be to mark the door for the bracket, drill 4 small holes, fit bracket, fit speakers. But im sure those brackets don't need to have the doors drilled. Im quite sure they dont need drilling. That bracket should fit. Hopefully someone with the same brackets will be along to answer your problem.

Try measuring the distance between the holes on the door and the holes on the adaptor. See if they are the correct distance apart.

because for some reason the speakers only have 3 holes and there are 4 on the bracket but i have redrilled the holes now so the adapters are attached but wich way up do they go as they are slightly raised at one side??? and i am worried about it catching on the glass for the window...

I can't remember which side the raised part goes too. Im 50/50 im afraid, if i was you i'd remove the speaker, then slide the window fully down and put the speaker in, see if it touches the glass, if not then you've no problems. Also trial fit the door card before fixing it in permanently.

do all 4 holes line up with the speaker mounts on yours then??

it dosn't helop either that the speakers are 16cm with 3 screws as thats going to be a pain once i get this sorted...

did you have this problem with the mounts when fitting yours?

cheers
Adam

what the hell?

The front speaker adapters should be 15cm. 13.5 inch.

Not 17.

Thats why they dont fit.

Sorry havent read the post's so if ive missed anything about this. But like i said... the adapters should be of 15cm, 13.5 inch, size. NOT 17!

yea i would have gotten the smaller ones but i had some speakers wich are 16cm

Adam

Ignore Jack, he can't even get his measurements correct. 15cm you say 13.5inches!!!! WOW thats some bracket. LOL. :) :) :)

Mate, 16.5cm speakers have been fitted for ages, even before these adaptors where put into production. Wimmy the site owner has installed 16.5cm speakers into the front doors of his 1.2. Hopefully he or someone else will see this post and help you out.

sorry, got messed up with the sizes. but i know that the front door speaker adapters for the 1.2 i have are 130mm. so 13cm.

i ment 5 1/2 inch. i think. anyway. correct me if im wrong.

and maybe people have installed 16.5 cm in the front door.... but all im saying is that the adapters for the bravo front door panael are for 13cm speakers.

sorry if telling you how mine are, and the ones sold are, angers you. :S

but go ahead... destroy your adapters by drilling holes, its not my car.

Have just tryed it with them 90* rotated and still no luck... it's as if the holes are too far apart....

Adam

That because the holes are too far apart.

You need the 130mm adapter.

why is everyone else apparently fitting this size speaker with this speaker mount then?

i know 13cm are probably easyer to fit but i just want these ones as i dont have to shell out to buy some more.. they used to be in my rear door cards on my last car so have just got them lying around and now i've bought the adapters it seems a waste to not fit them...

Adam

Adam, when i fitted my 17cm comps i had the same problem, so what i did was have the top 2 holes fitting where the orig speaker would screw and then for the bottom 2 i drilled a couple of holes in line with the fitting holes on the bottom of the adaptor and used the metal blade things that came in the speaker fitting set to get a bite into

the 17cm ones dont fit perfectly, but i swapped them from the 1.2 to the first hgt and will possibly be fitting them into the current hgt aswell

as for how to have the angle, personally i have it so the face of the speaker aims towards the passenger (drivers door speaker aims accross and up along with the passenger side one)
