General front spacers

are the 3mm front spacers on cinq sportings actually needed for the car to function or are they an 'upgrade' that fiat used to make the track slightly wider on the sporting model.

i ask as once i have my hands on a set of cento alloys i would like the front track to be a little narrower so the wheels get tucked in when its lower

Just handling and stability mainly. You should get away without them, but if you flip the thing, don't blame me

Personnaly, I doubt removing 3mm would make much difference as to the visuals.

I'd leave them on if you can. You'll probably get more understeer if you take them off at the very least.

ive never come across any problems whilst keeping the 3mm spacers

What's the need for suck question ?? The offset on the cinq sporting wheels is ET30.5 , so you will need the 3mm spacers and without it you may or may not feel the difference.

But isn't this just the case of, if u got them fit them, if you don't you can ignore it ?

Why do you think they fitted them in the first place? Removing them (or leaving them off) will have an effect on the handling.

I can tell you what adding 6mm spacers to the front of a Sei sporting with stock Sei alloys does. With ET27.5 you can turn in hard enough to make the rear a little nervous, with ET21.5 you can turn in hard enough to get traces of turn-in oversteer. Okay the tyres & suspension will have an effect on things but that gives you an idea of what 6mm spacers do on a cento. I'd imagine you'd get a similar negative effect if you increase the offset over ET27ish.

Do you know the offset of the alloys you're getting?

i dont drive fast so im not fussed about handling. ill be on normal 165/55/13s cos ther cheap.

to answer brooky - i want to go as low as possible, im getting a -55mm kit from fast fiat when i have enough funds unless anyone else can point me in the direction of lower (im on -40mm now).

Im on -50mm at the back and i dont know at the front, -50/-60?

Ive kept the spacers,standard alloys and big bouncy tyres and i never had any scrubbage or other problems

ah ok thanks. my rear shocks are already uprated ones i believe so i guess i will have to save up for fronts too
