From a Bravo to a Tipo? Thoughts?

From a Bravo to a Tipo? Thoughts?

The 1.4 3 doors sometimes came with the red piping - the pillock who said mine wasn't a Sedici informed us all that there ws no red/silver boy stripes on Sedici's. His eyes must have been playing him up.

Or you could go for one of these....same engine but with a different head. This variant was my 1.8, which still kicked out 144bhp!

After a bit of seaching -information on the 3-door Sedici is scarse to say the least- I have found something that has put me off getting a 16v for the performance.

142bhp Tipo Sedicivalvole: 0-60 in 9.8 seconds.
113bhp Bravo HLX: 0-60 in 9.8 seconds.

And to make it worse, the 91' Tipo (148bhp) did 60 in 8.3 seconds.

And Mk1 Tipos are almost non-existant in NZ!

I must say I am surprised.

Hi Matthew. You are correct. The Tipo Sedicivalvole is indeed rare in NZ.
There's only about six left in the country; so i was reliably informed by the only owner of one in Wellington.
She refuses to sell it to me. She knows it's worth and exclusivity.
It's a white one, and what i can remember, it has alloys. Not sure on the year. It must be around 13 years old. The interior and exterior was a bit poor. She told me it's worth about NZ$700. But she still won't part with it.
What part of NZ are you from?

TOO OLD TO PLAY FOOTBALL. TOO YOUNG TO PLAY GOLF

I'll show my backside in Binns's window if a Sedicivalvole can't easilly outrun a 1.8 Bravo!

Hi Graham,

I'm from East Auckland. The black three-door Sedici I wanted to buy off TradeMe is also in Wellington, although I went to a Fiat Twin-Cam forum and a knowledgeable soul had this to say about the difference between the Mk1 and Mk2 models:

"Some will argue the toss, but the differences between mk 1 and mk 2 Tipo is the original pre 92 models had in the region of 155bhp. This was about 50 cars to the UK. Dont know anywhere else though., 92-93 models ran a different ECU.
Official 0-60 time was 7.7secs [92 onwards]. Mk 1 one had better cams then mk 2 which gave more power[145bhp] against mk 2 142bhp. Mk 2 had slightly more torque but engine feels flat. Gearing also different on two models. Best ive seen for mk 2, 0-60 is 8.4, and that was after a rolling road session. Its funny how many owners have fitted MK 1 cams and ECU to their MK 2's to improve the performance!!"

Nostalgia is expensive

Matthew, sorry to dowse your bonfire but I feel an overwhelming urge to remind you that the teapot you are considering is a classic car by todays standards - even more so because there are so few of them on your fair isle.
What's my point?
The novelty will soon wear off when you realise that it will cost a fortune to own, run and maintain. If you have the cash and patience then indulge yourself. Otherwise, you gotta let it go.

If I could have my 1.4 DGT Teapot back in the same condition as the Bravo is now, I would.
I loved that Teapot!!

Why on earth would I wan to shrink the picture.

Useless utility.

Mk1 Sedici's were 148bhp, Mk11's were 142bhp.

The ECU and cams in my Mk11 were lifted out of a written of Mk1.

So that it doesn't screw up the forum!
Doesn't it look better now that you can see it in its entirety without having to scroll across the page?

The answer is YES, by the way. Obviously a mod feels the same way.
And, you do not have to shrink the ORIGINAL picture. That you can keep at its original size on your computer.

I'm not really bothered about who thinks what to be honest; least of all anyone officious.

RR,

When you transplanted the Mk1 cams/ECU into your car, did you feel a big difference in performance?

The word officious comes from the latin word officiosus which means obliging.

Happy to oblige - even supercilious people such as yourself.

Matthew, yes, I did notice quite a difference, but the car was also chipped - I think upto about 162bhp.

Sabre32 - you didn't oblige at all, but thanks for pointing out the wrd came from a dead language. Really useful and will no doubt come in handy to throw into conversations at dinner parties.

Dead language ??

I think the Vatican and Catholic church might have something to say about that !! LOL

Should I be worried then?

No country speaks Latin, hence the term "dead language".

Worried ? That's up to you.

It might not be a native language anymore, but 6 out of 10 words in the English language are derived from it and it also forms the basis for one of the funniest sketches in Life Of Brian...
