I was running a Nokia Mediamaster freeview box i have had for the last 8/9 years when after phase 1 of the Granada region switch over.

I lost the BBC freeview channels on this box as the signal went from 2k to 8k on the BBC channels (the rest to change in December to 8k) i never looked into this before because i thought i was sorted... turns out im not as they changed the broadcast signal (and it wasnt publicised well that some digi boxes would stop working)

anyways, i am getting a new TV in the next month or two and needed a carry over box so i picked up a £16 one in ASDA.

Every channel works apart from BBC2, and i cant get it to work. its pissing me off as im not usually thick when it comes to this technology but i cant get it. its on the right UHF (62 for winter hill) but its not playing ball when it comes to BBC2

any ideas?

Don't panic! You might find it's picking up from a different transmitter than normal (mine switched from Caldbeck to soemthing Borders way and back again as signals were swapped and boosted) and you'll be due 3-4 retunes/ signal changes before it all settles down. You could also try and see iuf there's a software update for it. Sometimes you do need a new aerial as well if it's moved frequency entirely - I had to get one when I lived in Dumfries and that cost me £60 fitted. At the end of it all, everything works fine, far better than before and during the switchover :D

na its the winter hill transmitter its looking at.

Its annoying that im replacing a piece of technology not because its broke, but because broadcasts are changing signal type... there must be a use for this 2k equipment now, im going to keep hold of it.

Actually this afternoon i found the box and on it it actually states 'fully compliant with BBC broadcasting standards' and now its not

wonder if i have grounds to sue?

Personally I think it all started going Pete Tong when BBC 2 started and it all went to colour.

There was nothing wrong with 425 lines anyway.
