Free Bronson.

That was 11 years ago.

Thats 3 years longer than the IRA bomber they released in 2005. He blew up 9 people, himself and his friend. He's now back in prison because he was and still is a terrorist.

He's almost 60 years old, he's polite and intelligent, he deserves a chance to live a normal life.

Ok folks, I have read this with interest but have not really commented because I don't think anyone here is really informed enough to know. This is for the professionals to judge and the lawyers to argue if we disagree.

There are many that I personally wouldn't want back on our streets; but in Shadyman's favour, this country does not have a great record re the human rights of criminals kept locked up for 'political' reasons, e.g. The Great Train Robbers and the Krays (an ex-CID friend of mine felt that London became more dangerous for the average citizen once they locked up the Krays).

However, if there is a breach of human rights, it should be investigated; but there is a process for that and it should be respected.

And you have come to all these conclusions just by reading a book, a book written by himself?

Shadey...If you had actually spent some time in his company or a had a background in this sort of thing I might be inclined to pay some interest in your opinions.......but from a book..... and contary to what the authorities say and believe??....amazing utterly amazing!!.....AND whats more you continue to dispute my claim about being easily influenced via unreliable sources.

WAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!...priceless, absolutely priceless

Hitler once wrote a book and lots of people thought he was a nice guy too.

I'm friends with Charlies brother Mark, so yes I do have a reliable source.

I know Charlies brother Mark, and yes I have signed the petition.

Obviously didn't read the original post properly. "amazing utterly amazing! :tosser:

No-one could be 100% about any prisoner being released.

But I honestly believe in him and think he deserves a second chance.

Its sad that a man who has turned his life around may never get the chance to prove to us all that he's not the insane 20 year old he once was.

He had a second chance. And a third.

He quite clearly has not turned his life around. Only a 12 years ago he was taking a hostage and threatening them with a knife.

By all means release the guy, but only when the authorities (who generally know a lot more about these things than us civillians) say it's safe to do so.

I really don't understand the way sections of our society seem to almost idolise violent criminals like Bronson and Raoul Moat. They are thugs, pure and simple.

Mmm, yes, been keeping an eye on this but can't resist. I have no idea on the OP age. A young naive lad getting caught up in things or an older chap with his own views no matter what others think.

Everyone is entitled to their views, but what you need to remember here is that Bronson is a career criminal. His lifestyle choice has put an end to anything positive towards him. I could say a lot more, but it does seem we live in a society where the likes of Bronson are idolised by some, as said previously.

And what about the hoardes of women who write to these people, offering marriage etc? How comes they aren't getting a visit from representatives of the local loony bin?

And Myra Hindley's mum thought she was a little angel...

I note Peter Sutcliffe wants another chance as well.

And the mention of the great train robbers - how about Ronnie Biggs?
Returns to UK in 2001, seriously ill. 2009 Biggs released on compassionate grounds. 2010 Biggs attended a gala dinner where he collected an award for services to crime.

I note Biggs' health is far better now than it ever was, thanks to his 5 star treatment upon returning to UK soil. I only wish my dad had been given the same intense medical care & multiple handouts - then again, my dad wasn't a criminal. He fought for this country, got a bravery award & was generally forgotten about by the rest of the world.
Seems to me that the only way for us normal working blokes to survive retirement is to nip out and commit a serious crime.

Like I said earlier, that all happened a long time ago, diagnosed as insane at the time, pushed over the edge by the ill treatment he recieved.

He's done more than enough time in prison, almost 40 years.

Prison reforms gave him the chance he needed to better himself and he has. He deserves a second chance.

im all up for giveing people second chances hes been realised twice ?

so its more like 3rd chance no one made him rob that bank and saying hes sane makes everything hes done even worth mate.

dont get me wrong you may know him or his brother thats proberly why heseems a nice chap to you.

Knowing somoene and getting along well with them is no guarantee that that person is not, at heart, a low life.

I spent my first 35 years living in Northern Ireland and have met more "great-guys-if-you know-em" than I care to remember. Guys who would have no second thoughts about putting a bullet in your back if it suited their agenda.

"During his time behind bars, 22 years of which have been spent in solitary confinement, Bronson has served time in 120 different prisons, staged eight rooftop protests, assaulted more than 20 prison officers and caused £500,000 worth of damage to property. He has taken hostages on 10 different occasions - one of whom he threatened to eat"

"Britain's most dangerous inmate"

Please tell me your kidding

So if he was to be released on bond and we were in america you'd be confident enough to be the name on his bond?
Dont think so.
If HMS said to you "ok we release him but it's on your advice and recomendation that we do so" i bet you'd think twice.

This is so true. I spent 30yrs in the oil industry as a welder, & some of the characters I met on my travels, Ireland included, I could write a book about them. I got on great with them because we were all in the same boat so to speak, but press a few "wrong" buttons & things became very nasty.

I remember a guy called "H Bomb" he & I hit it off, he used to like my patter. He confided in me one night after a drinking spree about his childhood, his abusive father, his horrible upbringing. He said the demons never left him & he used to explode with violence & practically watched himself do bad things & he just couldn't help himself. In some ways not his fault, but a very frightening man indeed when he exploded.

A reliable source?? his brother??........ Assuming she is still with us why not speak to his Mum?, I bet she is an even more reliable source :D:D:D
