Hello Everyone
So i posted on here awhile ago asking for help with a pretty bad overheating problem, and after a lot of fiddling and staring blankly at the engine, I found out the the head gasket had blown. Now I'm not a massive petrol head but i know a blown head gasket basically means the engine goes in the bin. However there is this product called "Steel Sill" or something along those lines and it basically fixes the head gasket by making a new one in its place, very confusing and pretty expensive, its was 70 euro for a bottle (less expensive than a new engine but still)

So that went in, and while i was hoping and praying that worked, i replaced the heater matrix as the hot air in my car might as well have been having someone in the backseat breathing on you, it was pretty useless, and so i took the old one out and good god it was pretty badly blocked. So now i have really hot air, a semi fixed head gasket and my little panda is still soildering on :).

My plans for the future is to fit a different (more powerful) engine to her, maybe a 500 Abarth engine or the engine from a 100hp but that is all for some day in the future when i have more money. In the mean time, I spray painted my wheel trims to match the body and it looks quite good (if you squint) and i plan to do some more little mods to her in the future:)

Normally Steel seal is only used by cowboys to mask head gasket problems to sell a vehicle on. A blown head gasket shouldn’t mean an engine goes in the bin, it just needs repairing properly by replacing the head gasket and having the cylinder head skimmed and crack tested as required. Glad your temporary fix has worked though, hope it holds up for you as long as required 🙂
