Ford Ka (Missing/ Jumping)

Another I have done all i can think of and its still bloody playing up threads



Mums KA 53 plate Duratec engine (the newer engined one)

when accelerating under load its missing / juddering.......

so far i have

replaced the plugs (with NGK pre gapped) ((checked gap since too))

replaced Coil Pack with new motorcraft unit,

replaced HT leads and its still doing it :bang:

it wont miss if you sit it on the drive and rev it (at the same time had spark plug testers on and they are all lighting up equally)

its only under load


been looking on tinterweb and theres talk of the KA having a Maf sensor which could get gunked up which is highly likely as the air filter was well and truely caked in filth (( garage said then changed it last service which is ball cocks)) but i cant find it

had the air box off and found the throttle body (cleaned that with IPA whilst i was at it

but No Maf to be seen so does it have one or what else can it be??

well bit the bullet and got a ODB2 reader and no faults shown

fuel filter? have you tried a compression test too as an indicator of whats happening.

KAs can suffer with water in the electrical system too, and faulty coil packs can spike the ECU causing injector issues. Other than that, I dont know very much about the Duratec ones!

Have you tried driving with it plugged in to see if ECU registers engine load?

found it was a (new) plug leaking to earth :bang: replaced plug and
