excellent. I've found the culprit- and printed off the manual as well as didn't get one with my car.
the fusebox is upside down in mine... there's six fuses which are not shown in the manual.. are they spares?

I don't know why, but in the workshop manual and the handbook they always show the fusebox upside down.

The diagram on page 197 shows 5 empty positions to the left of the fuses which would be to the right if the fusebox were the correct way up. That's where the spares go if I remember correctly. It's also shown on the back of the drop down lid on mine.

i replaced the blown fuse... tried to reset the blind but nothing happened. The dial didn't do anything but the blind worked briefly before the fuse blew again. It's fuse 45... not sure what's going on....

did it make a brief horrible grinding noise?...these cars sunroofs are prone to cable seizing.....££££££££

i can't recall a noise when it stopped. The window itself is movable with the winder... could be a jam with the blind. Very annoying!

could well be just the motor (not cheap either!) as blind is seperate.

Sky roof not working

Hi

I am baffled as to why my sunroof isnt working..

I drove my car 12pm on a hot sunny day with my roof open fully and 3 hours later when i went to open it..it doesnt open at all !!!

i checked the fuse box and doesnt look like that it has blown !!

Im aware that it can be manually opened but not very useful...any ideas ?

The switch you use to open the skyroof, push that in and hold for around 10 seconds. You should hear the skyroof moving slightly while you do it. Give that a shot and try it again. Chances are it'll work just fine afterwards.

Might be worth pointing out that it's explained on page 77 of the Stilo Handbook that comes with the car under "Initialisation Procedure"!

Yeah curiously there's a heavily-abridged version of the procedure described in the electronic copy that is floating around (as attached); not looked in my paper copy though so it may be in the newer manuals? I've never tried this one though, having only done the full open/close sequence when I had troubles...

I quickly greased mine up the other day, took about 20 mins including using a PC air duster to get the random bits of rubbish out! Unfortunatley I only had some basic standard HMP grease but used it pretty sparingly with an old brush on the edges of the sunroof blades and it is much quieter in operation now!

I also re-distributed and cleaned out the grease which was stuck in the runners and put a bit of new grease in there to let it all run smoothly.

Next bit to make it mint is to get the felt bits supple again and clean of their green coating...

Has anyone ever actually taken the blades out to properly clean in and around the channels? Lets face it you have to look after these things, especially as the weather out there is brilliant for the Skyroofs!

ah what a nice way to enjoy the weather you could try cleaning and lubricating running tracks as that appears to be anti-decapitation feature kicking in due to high resistance while closing :yum: (or, if you don’t feel like working at the moment, you could help it close with your hand.. also search might be useful)

Hi peeps, i have a Stilo, Guess what the sky window is broken, i have followed all the adivse on the forum, but it still wont work!!!! I love my sky window please help!!

Ive never cleaned it, if i select postion 1 i get a loud clicking noise, the window jiggles, trys to open a little then stops, the blind moves to the correct postion, if i try to close it it makes the same clicking noise and doesnt move. I have to manually close the roof. When your sat inside the car the right hand side seems to release and open & i get a gap, the left hand side doesnt move!
I have managed to push the first section of glass open whilst selecting postion 1. But thats it, it wont allow me to open it further, even manually.

Help please please please as its dam hot out side.

You've kinda answer your own question in your 1st post.

The best advice to give anyone with a sky-roof is to keep it reasonably well maintained. If you don't, and neglect it completely, then it's a virtual certainty that one day it will fail badly

The only good news I can give you is that someone is selling spares for the sky-roof and can most likely give expert advice too.

Use Search and you should find it as it's a recent post.

Hi my skyroof has gone again, went 2 years ago and you guys told me about resetting it worked and fine, its now 6 years ago we had the stilo mot yesterdays on the way back weather lovely we opened the roof bong noise came from it, and the blade open and blind rolled back but not in it folded long the open it closed today we open the skyroof and clean it as it was a bit dusty now, bind still folding. tried resetting, only it will not work now nothing bind or blades when we tried resetting at 6 sec we got a very bad noise like grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr what should we do it get it work we want to sell it.........help.
