hi, ive had the same problems as most punto owners talk about on here, recurring flat battery, power steering failure until ignition turned on and off, car juddered to a hault few weeks back and is mis firing left right and centre, diagnostic shows misfires and no other problems, yet just wont run, replaced HT leads, Spark plugs and coil pack , still no joy, just had cylinder head done too so cant be that,

i called an Auto spark out today to diagnose with the reader and he suggested ECU, as he knows loads of punto's that are basically undiagnoseable, he found out hard way by changing everything in the car, timings, leads, plugs, cylinder heads and coil pack etc... and still wouldnt run,

hes partnered with a garage that you can send you ECU to, and get it repaired , so no reprogramming needed or anything, for £200

do we know if this works? and is this a good deal?

thanks, Matt

My car is a 2001 1.2 16 v sporting Mk 2

Yes it can be done, they can be 'virginised'.

You can normally pick new ones up on ebay for £120.

if i bought a new one from ebay, would i have to change all the fuse box and locks, i heard theyre all conditioned to a unique number on the ECU or something?

http://www.the-ecu-doctor.co.uk/

anyone used that site before?

They're virgin i.e. blank and they re-code themselves by doing a phonic re-learn.
