on power up the fiat on blue screen comes up but now doesnt go pas this screen then after 30 sec switches off and starts again. can get radio but this also switches off every now and again with the display. any ideas or is the radio/sat nav unit a tad goosed

I would Check all the connections to the back of the radio!
I would advice accessing these through the panel above the radio(pulling the radio often causes loose connections!).
The panel lifts off (pry it off from the front near the Vent grills.
Next pull out the vent grills (above radio) this is done by prying free Left then right side and 'wiggling it out.
next remove the vent pipework. a little fiddly but it comes out through where the try was.

Removal of panel and vents gives you access to connections with radio still in place as can be seen below:
If connection are all ok then you may have issues with the RT3 unit itself.
