Can anybody suggest where is best to buy a used engine for a stilo 1.8. The oil pump was defective on mine subsequently leading to an engine that is no more.

Did your engine die in a spectacular manner or is it possible to rebuild it ?

Looks like it is easier to look for an engine out of the Punto HGT as they are more often found than Stilos.

Tell me Peter how do the two engines differ it they do at all ?

Same engine, mapping and airbox are different.

Thankyou (y) so does this also apply to the 1.6 stilo engine IE:- the same unit is used in another model for instance Tipo/Bravo oe Brava ?

Tipo/Tempra used an 8v 1.6 engine so thats definetly different.
The Brava's 1.6 I think is maybe the same, but tweeked a bit for use in the Stilo (someone will correct me on this I think)

When i went down to see pete, we was talking about the engines in the stilo and he did defiently did say the stilo 1.6 block is the same old as the bravo/a... as he was saying it was quite an old design! But i would say it the same story as the HGT and 1.8 stilo, with the various few different pieces!

Its always nice to know whats under the bonnet engine wise so thanks guys for the info was a bit of a surprise with the multipla though:D ah well I'm always been told by you lot about my 4x4 so the multipla bit is an added feature now :p ;) :D

I've been thinking about upgrading recently to something with a bit more go under the bonnet.

Problem is that i love my stilo!

This might be a stupid question (apologise if so) but....
Could i replace my current 1.2 with a HGT engine (will it fit ok) and would the chassis of a 1.2 be okay with such a bigger engine?

There would be a bit to sort out Kurt for example would the engine/gearbox mountings line up with the mounting points on your car and there's always the question of electrical connections /sensors etc to over come I'm sure someone on here could put you in the right direction if you decided to try it :)

Sounds rather compicated!!

I think i might start to look for a new stilo that needs a nice home! Got one of my contacts at work to look for one for me.
