Technical Fiat Punto MK2 19ds Oil Cooler Breaks

Hi,

I have Fiat Punto Mk 2 19Ds and the oil cooler broke and started mixing oil with coolant water, its the second time that happened in 3 years.

It costs 500 euro to buy a new one so the first time that happened I bought an oil cooler for 17 Diesel engine same shape just a little bit thinner because it was cheaper 120 euro.

Should I Bypass the oil cooler or fit an after market one?

PS- I live on a small island and there is no Highways.

Hi

Years ago I had a 1929 turbo diesel and the cooler 'radiator' got damaged and leaked.. so I removed it and just fitted the one hose in a loop..

The coolent temp rose as the turbo boosted

No boost : no temperature rise


Can you just remove the cooler body and screw the filter direct?

I think so yes with some adjustments it is possible to attach the filter directly.

and the engine does not have a turbo so it should be fine.
