I have a Ducato x250 2.2 100bhp 2010 and would like to buy the connectors that will fit to my laptop. Where can I get these from ie can I get them in Halfords and is the software free or do you have to purchase this a swell. I have a Sony Vaio running win 10. Thanks in advance Tribby

You can get a free trial version of 'Multiecuscan' from their website, (www.multiecuscan.net) but you can't do certain things with the free one or connect to all the vehicles modules. But useful if you need to play around and try it- the site also tells you what the free one will and won't do and which vehicle modules it will connect with. It is 50 euro for full version. Gendan can supply it too for the same cost (more reliable support- telephone- rather than original creators site, which is email, and slow in my experience).Gendans leads more expensive than ebay, but again easier to get results if there is any problem with them. Depends what you need to do? Tell us if you like, lol!

Hi,
For your Ducato you need a ELM 327 USB interface "modified for Multiecuscan" an adaptor lead 1 (Green) andMultiecuscan (MES) software www.multiecuscan.net
As others have said you can buy package from Gendan and they give good supprt bu you pay for it. Alternatively you can buy on eBay or Amazon.
An example of an interface and lead set (that includes a couple of adaptors for other Fiats) is www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Fiat-Alfa-ELM-OBD2-Green-Red-Yellow-cables-adapters-Diagnostics-Multiecuscan/282526378637
Avoid the sub £10 interfaces, they have a design flaw (if remove the 100R SMD resistor makes sense to you you can modify a cheap one your self).
Try the free version of the software before paying the 50 euro registration fee. You can also load the software nd try it in "simulate" mode in your armchair before you buy the interface.

The self contained code readers the likes of Halfords sell have limited functionality compared to MES.

These guys come highly recommended, the cables are good quality and the package includes full version of the software.

I can totally recommend this company, got all my multiscanecu hardware and licenced software from them.......they were there to help me configure the system via the phone, great service. (Ps I have no connection with this firm other than they provided me with a great service)

Many thanks for your replies. I have downloaded the free version and had a play and it looks good. I think I will go for the lead set for £27. I presume the set will tell you where to plug it in?
Cheers tribby

No the interface won't tell you where, too many vehicles to cover. I don't know the Ducato but a search on here or Google for "Ducato x250 EOBD location" or "Ducato x250 OBDII location" should produce the information. Often on Fiats it's part of the fuse box/body computer in the cab. This can be harder to spot than a completely separate connector. According to this
https://www.outilsobdfacile.com/location-plug-connector-obd/Fiat-Ducato
it is part of the fuse box.

It's behind the cover in the dashboard to the right of (RHD versions) and under the steering wheel, as indicated. Part of the fuse box/body computer on X250, below and separate to the fuse box/BCM on X290.

Depending how much use you intend to make of MES, I can recommend the multiplexed version. Just one lead to plug in and it will connect to all modules, do a full vehicle scan for DTCs etc. in one go, no swapping cables.
