Hi there,
A month ago bought this wonderful car but today it simply refused to start.
No problems or warning lights.
The car turns over but will not fire. There is one clue but do not know what it means, as I turn the key to start the fuel gauge drops to 0. As you stop trying to start the needle picks up again.
As I am new to the car does anyone have any ideas?

Update!

Went to the ol thing this morning and it fired up first time! Hoorah!

Got it back home, stopped and started it about 4/5 times and there seemed no problem.
Out of interest after 30 mins went back and the problem is back, exactly the same symptoms, engine is still warm, turns over but no fire up and that fuel gauge dropping thing.
Hope someone out there can suggest something as this is so frustrating. :bang:

Sounds like the crank sensor is on the way out. They often fail without flagging a warning light. OK starting from cold but a refusal to start when hot/warm is a typical tell-tale.

I think the fuel gauge dropping is a red herring - cars often do this when the starter's drawing a lot of current. Perhaps your battery could do with a charge.
