Hi all, hoping someone here can make my bank holiday a little more bearable by helping with a problem on my 2002 Fiat Ducato 2L Diesel camper.

The camper has been standing for a number of years, so have put a new battery in it - the vehicle wants to start, turning over fine, firing fine, and sometimes even starting for a second or so.

Upon turning the ignition, there is no noise from the fuel pump and the fuel gauge is registering as empty, even though there is diesel in it..

Also, upon the new battery going in, the odometer has reset itself to 0 miles, which isn't right..

Have checked all the fuses, checked the lift pump in the footwell, all seems fine and voltage to all, just no power to the fuel pump??

Can anyone help please :)

Many thanks

Also, have continuity on the inertia switch, fuses all fine, relay fine, still no power to fuel pump..

got an electric step,,??

Electric step caused a similar problem for me.
Step retracted as it should have on turning the start key.
M/home ran for about one minute while getting off my drive, then stopped, just like turning off the key, did notice the idle speed was down a bit when 1st started.
After doing some checks the step was lowered and retracted from the hab’ entry and normal service was resumed,
Next morning on site same thing happened again, so the next day I retracted the step first and made sure it went fully home. Engine fired up, correct idle speed and ran perfectly.
Lubricated linkages and cleaned step switch, never had the problem since.
HTH

Electric step been disengaged and fuse out for a while as its damaged, but has started since - possible fuel pump seize will keep you updated!
