What fault code are you reading from ecu?
What engine does your 500l have?

Do you have any experience with spanners and repairs?

It says fuel rail pressure too low
It's a 1.3 diesel
Would you know anything about the check valve?
Not personally but dad has experience.

The engine is common rail.

In the fuel rail is a valve operated by the ecu to keep the pressure at the level the ecu demands, provided the high pressure pump is able to generate enough pressure.

Has any work been done to car recently?

Fuel filter change?

Is there enough fuel in tank?

Is battery flat?

Does engine run?

Post the fault code that is letter p followed by four numbers

Contaminated fuel was put in by mistake. We have cleaned out the tank, put new fuel in. Changed the fuel filter and new fuel pump
Charged the battery
The engine will run but only start with easy start

There is nothing coming from the high pressure pump, nothing coming to the common rail. We baught a tester.

What was fuel contaminated with?
How long was car run for with bad fuel?

Does the in tank pump work properly?

Petrol, after emptying and putting new in it started ok and run for a few weeks. Now it will start with easy start and cut out. It wont drive fa

The fuel pump has been replaced so im assuming it works properly

How long was it run on petrol?

Took the petrol out straight away, so was not run on petrol, we didnt start it until the petrol was out and new diesel went in. It was dirty petrol, had muck it, we think something is blocked somewhere maybe?

Ah ok, So how is this fixed? How do I seal the rail?

Do you think its likely that the injectors are damaged?

Change the diesel filter again.
Look carefully at the removed one see if it's very dirty.
Remove in tank pump if it has a mesh filter look to see if that's blocked.

Do not put any part of your body anywhere near any of the high pressure diesel pipes or fittings when they are open or loose.

The pressure of the fuel is more than enough to push diesel fuel through your skin into your flesh- this can kill you or require the affected limb/area cut off.

Did you say you had a tool to measure rail pressure?

What figure was it showing

Needs to be HUNDREDS of Bar..
Or it wont allow injection

These motors have been around for 15 years..
Most issues have been seen on here before ;)
Yes showing 110

Thank you for your advice! Will try everything :)
