General Fiat 500 Delivery!

Just had an update from the dealer, I was hoping to get my new baby at end Sept/start Oct, but they've just given me an ETA of 12th October for arriving in mainland UK! And a further 2 weeks delivery means it'll be the end of October now :(

Sooooo disappointed! But I suppose it gives me more time to find some cool accessories, and perfect my car washing skills... ;)

Good attitude! :D

I'm just taking everything I hear from the dealer with a pinch of salt, and riding out the wait. Hope to have it last two weeks of September or first week of October as my wedding is the 10th and it'd be great to have a 500 as a wedding present! :p

Soooooooooooooo.....FIAT 500 day is just 11 hrs and 40 mins away......:D

Though we had a scare when the salesman siad we had to pay the £200 increase on a car we ordered on the 14th MAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not best pleased.......................

Then put onto the owner who then admitted that the car was "order protected".....still not best pleased........but NO £200 to pay!!!!

Watch this space .........:)

LOL. It seems like bad service season.

Well, we ordered ours today! :D:D:D

1.3TD POP. Passodoble red with red/ivory seats and ivory ambience. We've opted for the sliding sunroof and getting the rest of the goodies on eBay!

First salesman said it would probably be with us around mid October, but the guy who took our order said we should be looking towards the end of November.

We've never had a new car before and we're getting this through Motability, but just over 3 months seems a long time to wait to me. Also, the rep said that since the scrappage scheme has proved so popular, we won't be getting regular updates about the car. All we'll get is a phone call when it arrives at Portbury Dock. Then is should be about 2 weeks to funtime!

Oh well, gives me time to save up for some sexy white and red alloys!!:yum:

congrats you've ordered an AMAZING car !!
we ordered 500 june 20th, won't be getting it till october... i think most will be looking at a 3 month wait.
we're the same, never had a new car before and will be getting ours through motability too.
you should get regular updates if it's on motability, our dealers getting made too. i'll point out that you should double check the payment you'll have to pay because our dealers got it wrong and are trying to make us pay more.

Hi Elsie,

Checked and double checked!

On the Motability website it clearly says that we can have a 1.3TD MJ POP "Special AC". We checked with the dealer and this means we get free paint, and free air con. The payments are the total ammount of HMC and we pay for the roof. However, there is no up front payment to make and because we have placed the order, this cannot change. Even if Fiat decide to put up the prices.

Like I said, 3 months more to save up for goodies. I'll just have to slum it in my Saab!:p

Good good.
no deposit, just an advance payment when we collect the car. we're paying for fog light, chrome mirrors and rub strips.
we're slumming it with no car, ours died so we're 8 weeks walking... can't even walk to the dealers to buy any lovely accessories, it's way too far. oh wells.

Hi guys I just want to add that I picked up my new car last wednesday (Ordered 15th June) and it's been absolutly perfect for me. The car has lots of little things that just make you smile.

The more you drive the little thing the drive just gets better and better.

I hope you all get yours asap!

Can I ask without someone feeling I'm being a bit of a Scrooge character, why if you get your car on motability, you need free paint and free AC? The colour of the car makes no difference to the operation of the car, and isnt motability about enabling people to have increased access to transport? If you ask me, its like paying someone benefits when they are unemployed then buying them a PS2 because they have a lot of free time on their hands.

I agree. But then again perhaps Fiat offer it for free themselves as a sweetener :)

i thought AC was free... for the lounge anyway. :)
basically it's a car that you pay for every month and give back in 3 years times, so i see no reason why not to give free paint, having more choice makes it feel more like your own car because you got to choose what you wanted.
nothing against what you said, but that reference to benefits is completely different.

Just to clarify the Motability issue.

Motability are buying the car, not us, and we are only "renting" it from Motoability.

Motability have negotiated this deal direct with Fiat and it's not a sweetener. Motability will sell the car at auction in 3 years when we're finished with it.

It's just there to improve the resale value of the car and nothing sinister.

I got free paint and AC with my car! Perhaps they didn't like you? :p

Possibly not, but then no-one on here likes you, so it balances out

Thanks for clarifying the paint thing motability peeps, as I said I wasn't trying to be facetious, just wondered how it worked. Personally, I think that a car should come in a range of colours, its dead stingy to have to pay thousands of pounds for a product and then still have to pay for more than a choice of a couple of colours. Still I always wanted BNW so its a moot point for me.
