General Fiat 500 Delivery!

Is anyone else really upset about scrapping their car? I was almost in tears clearing mine out, was amazed I'd gotten so attached to a car!

I took my old Saab round the block one more time as the sun shone - It was sad to let it go as it really had a few more years left in it.

At least it wasn't a 900i which was the last of the proper Saab's. Your Saab was the first GM Saab..... yuck :p

I agree re the 900i, but good ones are rare and expensive (900i would be on the Super Cool Top Gear wall of fame - where the 500 is if you look carefully at the last series).

To the purist its a GM, but even the lofty 500 has major Ford parts, so no 'yuck' from me - Nearly 2 years of reliable fun open top motoring and £600 more than I paid for it back from the pockets of Fiat and HMGov - I pay enough tax as it is, so glad to get some back, save the planet and hopefully secure a few good years of reliable, fun, Fiat ownership. :D

What Ford parts does the 500 have?

Yep my Fiesta did too, my 17 year old cousin was getting it until the scrappage scheme came in, luckily her circumstances changed too so I didn't feel too bad on her, just the car! lol.
My Ford has been great, and the old style KAs are meant to be fab cars, hated the styling of the new one though and seeing as they're co developed and the 500 was so beautiful it had to be bought.

aww...
we couldn't use the scrappage scheme, but our car was on it's last legs so it had to be scrapped :(
i was amazed how much stuff was hoarded in it over the years. it was probably going to be jealous that we're replacing it with a lovely little 500
Why couldn't you use the scheme Elsie? I think its a bit :dead: to be jealous... :(

i feel your pain. I'm scrapping my 1997 Saab 900 too. the hood doesnt work anymore so it'll just cost too much to fix :((

its a shame you already scrapped it... i could have taken ur tonneau motor :p

What defines ownership of parts if they're co developed? (Just to be awkward like you always are :p lol)
Well, Fiat developed and built all the parts so they're Fiat parts. Converesely the V6 used in the Brera, Spyder and 159 currently was developed by GM (with Fiat heads) so it's a GM engine.

can't use scrappage on motability. oh wells.
don't get much money for scrapping cars now :( because of two many cars being scrapped through the scheme.
it was past the point of being sold to a new home though. so it had to go

Lol you shout have used it towards a car and sold it on straight away :) though you would have needed to front the cash which I know I couldn't have done.
Any news on your 500? I took my Fiesta in today :( poor thing.

If you still want it I'll happily donate any parts you want FOC. It would make me feel better knowing at least part of the old girl was continuing. Let me know and I'll check with the garage to see if they still have it stored.
