i've checked properly now.. If i open a new FF tab in my browser (Chrome) whilst already having one open then i stay 'offline'. If i close all tabs of FF and open a new one i become 'online'. And if i close the browser and reopen then i'm 'online'.
cookies are enabled, i know its on or i'd have to sign in everytime which i don't - i have 'remember me' selected

Ah yes, looking at the cookie - it is only set as a browser session. Not sure if that is a feature or a bug.
meh, it doesn't bother me much tbh, but its there if you wanna look into it.

If the report shows a long time (seconds) and the mySQL percentage is much much higher than the PHP, then I already know about this issue

i rarely getting hangs anymore.. but i'm generally getting 55%-70% on both MySQL and PHP. I have no idea what would be considered high though.

i remember when you could switch computer on, then do both of them, come back and it still hadn't even fully loaded to dos prompt.
lol, my first computer was a IBM 186Mhz. Ah them were the days.
If there is no hang, then those percentages are fine.
It's when the number of seconds is really high, and the mySQL percentage is high (around 90 or above 100) that it means it's a mySQL problem. Those I know about.
When you have to wait ages for the page, then it comes back with a low number of seconds - this is a PHP hang and what I'm still trying to resolve.

I hated the squealing noises those old modems used to make when they were connecting, felt like it went on for hours sometimes.

Yeah it was down for me too. Dunno why I'm guessing Server crash of some sort and ben not being near a computer lol.
