MOT Fail - because of 205 40 17, and because barchetta had only 195 55 15, now i had to put back old, go back to MOT to take a pictures of car, and then put back new (illegal) one... we are no in EU but our rules are. guy that work there was understandable, but he could not help me because of new rules.
mad! :bang::bang:
Sorry to hear that Fausting.
When swapping the "illegal tyres" bear in mind that if you crash your insurance company will not cover you.
Instead why don´t you just have a MoT addition with your wider/lower tyres? The increase should be within the EU directives limits to my knowledge and your MoT should have nothing against that. They should check it, add this size to your reg and charge you.
We had a Rover 75 Tourer which had 195/65/15 as the origininals, I then put on 225/45/r17, and went into the Finnish MoT, got charged 60euros, and they added the new, legal, tyre size to the car´s registration.
Here´s the Finnish legislation (freely translated), and should comply with the EU directives, so should be the same there:
"A car needs to be re-MoT'd for tyres, if the Registered tyre size is changed as below:
- rims are one inch (2,54cm) wider/narrower
- tyre width is 30mm wider/narrower
Also,
- the width of the tyres must not exceed 102mm from the original
- the track width must not change more than 30mm, unless the Car Manufacturer states otherwise. I.e if the Car model range has a model, which original tyre is wider, then that can be accepted.
Hope this helps. -Andy
