My Barchetta often stalls when slowing down, stopping.. any ideas ?.. I think it may be an idle throttle valve ?.. it's a 2005 model... the throttle body seems a different design to earlier models ?

Does your rpm go down and recover several times when letting go of the throttle? Or does it stall immediately?

Hi, it doesn't always stall, I think the revs do vary slightly before cutting out , but all happens quickly...it happens about every other 2 or 3 stops ?

Thanks for all that.. seems a common problem without a clear solution..the car goes so well otherwise.. just a characteristic I will live with for the moment... nothing turned up when my local garage did a diagnostic check either.

PS .. I have had it for 7 months or so and am delighted it returns 40mpg !

Yeah I also have a later model (2002) with electronic throttle body and same thing, it runs perfectly when >5% throttle and about 40mpg, sometimes but stalling and problems to drive slowly near idle.
Hopefully it can actually be fixed without replacing the entire throttle body... they are slightly unobtainium because only <7000 M2 Barchetta's were produced

Erratic idle- stalling on slow down....
is Lamda sensor on exhaust.... only original part..
and problem solved...

Maybe if you have just the one, it's easy to test/replace. My Barchetta has 3 Lambda sensors..

I'm on my second Barchetta, and they've both suffered from this, usually when there are people watching! I've just replaced my old (Mann) fuel filter with a new Bosch (0450905316) one, and it does seem to have improved things. Hopefully not just a placebo effect.
