Freecom do some network attachable external drives. I think Netgear also do a router with a USB port or something for attaching a hard drive to.

If you're looking up to those sort of prices though you could be looking at a real server! Get something with a few big SATA discs and a raid 5 controller and you have some serious storage and its redundant. Dell poweredge servers start at reasonable prices, or grab something off ebay. I've now got a working PE4400, should give me about 250GB of SCSI storage (raid5) and if I put my SATA controller in too could fit another 800/1000GB of raid 5 SATA.
