Just recieved 8 Debian DVDs (not CDs!) for 4.99.

Windows 7 costs, what, 70 pounds for 1 disk and a licence. No useful apps, just a few accessories.

If Microsoft didn't blackmail manufacturers into shipping Windows pre-loaded into their boxen, how many days would they survive?

I'm now looking for a cheap computer (something better than the ancient P3 I have which does 990 bogomips) and even the eee 701 on 1260 bogomips.

Anyone any suggestions for something cheap? I have enough enough HDs and DVD/CD read/write, so really just need something with a faster chip and decent ram. Graphics speed isn't an issue, nor good sound.

It's done.

Extra Value Desktop, Pentium DC E5800 3.2GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, No Operating System

LG W2442PE-BF Full HD TFT LCD 24" HDMI Monitor

Debian Squeeze and a wireless keyboard and mouse from ASDA

Approx 350 quid the lot. That monitor is huge, so I may get a TV card.................
