For the price of a decent exorcism bike you can get an actual bike and enjoy fresh air as well. If you insist on staying indoors for the Winter most pro's use turbo trainers and bikes as it is a more natural action. Then once you've blasted the turbo trainer for a few months you can venture outside and not worry about not being able to keep up with traffic.

Get a parabolic roller style trainer. Much better than the turbo trainers imo but do take a bit of getting used to. You need to balance rather than relying on a frame to hold you up.
But then you do need a bike too. Best of both worlds though. Can go out when its nice, stay in when its not.
