Hi guys, sorry to trouble you, tried finding answers from other people but figured this site is the 'hub' of usefull info,

Ok allow me to begin with, I have my BT hub upstairs connected to computer, its got wireless which works in every other room in the house except the one where i play on my xbox,

so i have ran a cable down to the room which is plugged into my xbox, but when im in there and want to use my laptop at the same time i cant always get a decent wireless connection which is a pain.

In short would a Ethernet hub, split the connection between my xbox and laptop or is it something else id need to use? Any advice would be welcome

something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-Port-RJ...puting_NetworkSwitches_RL&hash=item33624c0bc3

Thanks

Dave

Thanks for this reply, il give it a shot, its just really so i can use my laptop at the same time as xboxing:eek:

No problem mate.

Would this be adequate? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Netgear-FS105-5-Port-Fast-Ethernet-Network-Switch-ProSafe-LAN-10-100-/310340546682?pt=UK_Computing_NetworkSwitches_RL&hash=item4841bcf07a(im just baffled at the minute with it all)

Hmm seen its a refurbed one and it says 'no fan' would this not overheat or would it not really matter?

No fan in these are fine, I've just bought two FS108 - same thing bit with 8 ports instead of 5 so I can tell you they're perfect and are silent.

^^ Bit more expensive but from a reliable source.

as said a switch is your best bet or if you wanner go wireless you can get a repeater and repeat the wireless signal nearer the room with your Xbox in

going this route your wanner get a regenerative repeater for the best possible wireless signal

not cheap though :(
