This one is continuing to intrigue me. Having found this definition yesterday and posted it here without giving it much thought, I've been thinking that I've not come across any such device on my boy's 2012 Punto (1.4 8 valve) so I've been continuing to research it starting with my Haynes manual - which makes no reference to it. When you search for definitions for this 1850 code it frequently comes up as a band solenoid problem on a conventional epicyclic automatic box and, much less frequently as the gear position switch.Just come across this which I think pretty much covers it - albeit related to an Alfa! https://www.alfaowner.com/threads/giulietta-p1850-fault-code.1134601/ Very much doubt if my Panda has one? - I hope!
Sorry, I had intended to finish off my last post by saying that I think this car still needs to be diagnosed with either MES or Fiat dealer tool to be confident of the diagnosis. This one is continuing to intrigue me. On an automatic I can absolutely understand the need for such a sensor but on a manual transmission? Anyone know if our cars have such a position switch?
