Hi all,

First off i'm after a bit of help, I have a Fiat Ducato motorhome with the engine Sofim 8140.67 (2.5L) anyway it has quite a big knock on the bottom end i am looking at doing an engine swap but i am having trouble finding that particular engine however i can find quite a few of the Sofim 8140.63 which is the (2.8L) both from around the same year but i was wondering if it would be a straight swap all be it on a little bigger than the other one?

Engine mounts, gearbox housing ETC

Thanks
Dan

I'm in a similar situation.
How did it go for you? What kind of prices did you find, and which motors were compatible'?

From distant memory of Iveco Dailys using basically the same 8140 Sofim engine, it should fit.
However one very important thing is make sure it is for a front wheel drive version, I assume your Ducato is. The reason being the Ducato transverse engine sits at a slant / leans back where as the Iveco is rear wheel drive and the engine sits vertically. It is not just a case of changing the sump and oil pick up as the crankshaft bearing assembly is different also. Check on wikipedia for vehicles possible Citroen Relay or Renault Master (not Renault Mascot as I think that is rear wheel drive)
For me the best engine would be from a 1997 Fiat Ducato Maxi as it was the last of the pre ECU engines and rated at 122Hp I think.
