Technical Engine stops when braking (engine temp = normal)

Hello !Am new to this forum,

Just got my 1996 Barchetta 3 weeks ago. Fabulous machine but it has problems (unpredictable) when it comes to braking. After a nice ride (highway and some local 50mph roads) the engine tends to stop after I brake.

First I use the gears to slow down, but the last bit (like anyone else I would assume) I use the brakes. Today for eample I lost the engine 4 times. Playing with the gas and the clutch helps a bit, but when emergency braking is needed (or when you're having fun) the engine stops.

Does anyone else recognize this problem?

I am greatful to any comments / suggestions.

When was it last serviced?

I would also look at cleaning out the idle control valve they sometimes get crap in them. had a look on eper and it is attached to the side of the air flow meter and called an electro valve

Hi Alan, Thanks for your quick reply, I'll have the information passed onto my dealer. I still have guarantee on the car for a few months. Hopefully they can do something to stop it !

Barchettas have this if they are not driven once a week at least. I garaged mine for 6mths and had this exact issue. Went to halfors and got the best Petrol / Injector cleaner you could buy and drove the car for 1hr. This did the trick.

Take it to a Fiat garage and tell them to clean the idle valve. It's been done twice on my b and fixed the problem each time.
