Engine packed in last weekend during racing. Took the head off today and one of the valves had sheared off and bored through the top of the piston..... Engine change needed.

Bravo 1.4 '96 12v
Can it come out the top, bearing in mind only half is left after taking the head off. haynes says out the bottom but i have had to weld skids from the sump frame to the front to act as skids to protect the sump so would need cutting off an re welding if it has to go out the bottom. Have tractor and stuff to lift it out sa weight not an issue.

If yes can I leave the drive shafts in the engine (undoing at centre of wheel) or do I have to take them out at gearbox end?

many thanks

Dave

u need to remove the drive shafts at the gear box and yes u can lift it out the top

Do I need to drain the gearbox first, then do the 3 bolts and separate with scredriver or can I cut the boot circlip and just pull the drive shaft out?

do you wonna buy everythin for a 155 conversion

@Ant,

I think he needs another 1.4 12v as he does grass racing in it and that is the engine size limit.
(if this is the person I think it is)

:)

Yep, 1.4 needed but I have one sitting on a pallet from a smashed Brava. It has been sitting so might not be great so you never know a need for another may be on the cards later this year, or an upgrade to a bigger class 1.6. Fingers crossed one i've got will do as I am on a severe budget.

Cheers all

Dave
