Suddenly, the car won't start. It's cranking, and it has a good battery, but it doesn't want to start. I replaced the high-pressure fuel pump and the fuel filter, but that didn't fix the problem. I checked if the injectors are getting fuel, but they aren't—not a single drop. However, the fuel pump in the reservoir is working. I think it's something related to an electrical issue, but I checked all the fuses, and they are good.
Can someone help me with this issue? Has anyone experienced something like this before?

Is the key code light illuminated on the instrument panel? When the ignition is switched on, the padlock symbol should light up for an instant, then go dark

Its lighting up and go dark after. The only things i observed are that the injector light comes on and stay on like 5 sec and it stops and the glow plug light appears and shuts down after 1 second. Thanks for helping me!

All the above seems normal, and I have checked on my x244 2.8jtd. The 2.8jtd does not have normal glowplugs, and will start at 0 C. without the flame starter.

There are 6 possible versions of the 2.8jtd, but I assume that yours has no EGR, has a metal fuel filter case, and flame starter, and is a Sofim 8140.43s, not the high power version.

Failure of either the crankshaft, camshaft, fuel pressure, or sensors would prevent starting. Also I think that the manifold pressure sensor may have the same effect, as the ECU would not be able to calculate the amount of fuel to be injected.

If the engine does have EGR then there may be problems with the EGR valve, or the throttle body.

Attached are engine management wiring diagrams applicable to the assumptions that I have made above. These diagrams are from Fiat eLearn, but the component names have been added by me. The letter "K" denotes a sensor.

@AgaMorb

You should also consider other non electrical causes. One possible cause is a fauly injector with excessive leak off. This could prevent reaching the minimum fuel rail pressure of 200 Bar at cranking speed. If this pressure is not reached, injection will not take place.

Hi again,
Just found this, while searching for something else. See post #18 on this thread.

So after nearly 1 year I changed the high fuel pressure pump, the fuel pressure regulator and the crankshaft sensor still doesn’t start but now I get fuel to the high pressure pump but nothing out of it. Maybe is another sensor that prevent it from coming out?

You have changed the hp pump twice???? (Pump change mentioned in post #1.)

You have also changed the hp regulator, which fits into the pump.

Fuel to hp pump, but nothing out when engine is cranked.

Is pump being driven OK. No key or similar missing?

Is hp regulator receiving a supply from ECU? Not easy to confirm, but no volts = no fuel out.

So I got the pump running, a tiny valve was stuck and it wasn’t letting the fuel to pass. In the picture u can see that valve I put an screw in it to pull it out and see how it’s working (this is the old pump and I experimented on it) and after a bit of struggle with the 2nd pump and a lot of spray to lube it I got it working and now it’s good problem solved the car starts. Thanks a lot for the help, who knew that it was something so small making that big trouble :))

hello guys now i got another problem! so the injectors are good i got them tested and they got fuel to them but it seems they are not reciving power. after i wiggle the flywheel sensor it started but for a little bit and it was showing the rpm wrong but i dont know if it was that sensor because it was new. i thought to get something to check the ecu maybe it will show an error but its obd1 port and i dont know an program to enter the ecu and what tools i need and im not sure it will show anything because obd1 is limited

I have not had the need myself, but you should be able to communicate with the ECU via the software package, Multiecuscan (MES) and an adaptor lead. The UK cmpany "Gendan" is often recommended for supply, and advice as to what is required.
