Hi folks
We have a 2007 2.3 ducato 130 multi jet
Which has randomly started cutting out and restarting immediately, this happens when we go over a bump or uneven surfaces, the dashboard lights go crazy and the EML comes on. It didn’t do it for the first 200 or so miles we owned it and when it started originally it would just beep and send up messages about fluid temperature and to check engine but didn’t cut out, we put it down to an over sensitive sensor but it has got much worse now with engine cutting out. Sometimes the dash lights go off completely whilst the motorhome is still going. I’ve had the earth straps checked out and cleaned up.Any help would be greatly appreciate. Cheers

I once had a new van that would cut out over a bump even on dual carriageway.
After numerous attempts to find the fault, turned out be too many keys on my ignition bunch. Poor return spring and weight of keys would knock the ignition key round .
I really hope that is the problem cos it's an easy fix.

Hi!,

I have had this problem once in my previous car, it was an electrical issue because the bolt that was fixing the negative cables of the wiring harness to the chassis was loose, so any bump was making the electronics to reset, including the ECU.

First of all make sure that 2 poles of the battery connectors are fixed tight. Here is the earth connection points, check what components are resetting and check their respective connection points:

Also you can wiggle the wiring looms and check if you can recreate the issue, the dashboard should turn off and then turn on again.

Hope this helps,
Diego.
