What's the biggest / best engine I could put into my '93 CLX without too much technical stuff going on?

Could I fit bigger discs on the front and still keep the steelies?

It's standard or selecta brakes only atm, but thats all you need

The star board engine should fit from the ark royal or with a little bit of work to the bulk head, the booster rocket from a saturn 5 with the carbon ceramic brakes from a gt3 but it really defeets the purpose of owning a panda...

Bobby's engine has now been removed and donated to RustyPanda for his 4x4. In fact, he drove up from Devon and took it out for me :D The next job is to clean up the engine bay before fitting the Punto engine :)

I would like to own a Panda with a bigger engine, although i'd have to buy another one that wasnt in such good condition and then completly redo it.

Is it possible to put old tipo engines in or are they to big and to much hassle? 1.6 turbo lump out of one of them would be a hell of a lot of fun i think!

Tipo engines are totally different designs to the FIRE engines. There's also no such thing as a Tipo 1.6 turbo. Any engine will fit if you have the time/ money to throw at it, but your easiest option is to fit one of the bigger FIRE engines.

Well a tipo enigne with a turbo fitted. There was one on ebay not so long ago.

What I meant was that as standard there was no 1.6 Tipo turbo and thus you'd not be likely to find one easily. So not only would you be trying to fit an non Panda engine into the Panda with non standard mounts you'd also have to convert it to run a turbo charger. That would mean mating parts from a Uno Turbo and also having to lower the compression amongst other things like fitting the extra ancilleries needed by the turbo installation. It would be a LOT of work. Also bear in mind that the much heavier Lampredi engine used in the Uno Turbo and 1.6 Tipo will bugger the handling of a Panda unless you seriously uprate the suspension.

Do a search in the Panda section for the Dutch guy who fitted a Uno Turbo engine into a Panda. He did pretty much a pro job and made it look like a factory fitment. However, there was a huge amount of work required.

Stick with the FIRE lumps to make life much easier, and if you really want to go turbo then check the Cinq FAQ's for turbo charging a FIRE engine as all the information you want will be in there. (y)

can you fit a cat to a Saturn 5 boooster? on a '93 you'll need it for the emissions come MOT time!

I started at 14:00 to remove my old fire engine and i had pandamark engine in by 18:00 with out removing the gearbox,:D

the last item to fit the lift pump, so i removed the blanking plate only to find as it was a an injection engine fiat didn't drill the push rod hole. bu**er...:bang:

so now i'm going to remove the injection head to put my head on tomorrow

The work on Bobby is going well. Yesterday he had the rollcage fitted :slayer: Looks brilliant :D

The Punto engine will be going in today - Long way to go but getting there! (y)
