Ok so I am going to collect the full interior out of an ELX later today, its the same year car as mine but the interior is almost immaculate where as mine is not and it has electric windows.

What I need to know is, are the wires for the electiric windows there in my Mia or will I need the dash loom too??? I am pulling the interior out and he has said I can have things like that for free but I don't want the hassle of pulling them out unless I have too, also I am getting the rear speakers and built in Sub too, again, will the wiring be there on my Mia or will I need to snatch these too????

:yeahthat:

Unfortunately the Electric windows are controlled via the body computer so unless your extremely lucky, it wont be just a case of switches and a bit of loom.

Regarding the sub, again its unlikely but still possible. If the loom is not there, then when you take the sub from the donor car, also take the white multi-plug and a few inches of the cable that connects into the top of the sub. You can then follow THIS guide on wiring it up.

Alan

after pulling the interior out of the donor car today I realised that the wiring wasn't there in my car for either so I think I will go with the sub but don't know if I will go for the electric windows. I thought it would just be a case of plug and play. hmmmmmmm think I will keep them anyway and think long and hard about it and see if there is a way around it.

going to go back tomorrow to the car to chase the wires from the plug all the way back to their source and then fit them properly for the sub and rear speakers.

Cheers for the advice guys.

PS
How much do the door nets get in the way of the winders???

What are door nets,

Well anyway'z what ever they are fling em if there in the way of the window'handles.

There will be away of wiring in elecy windows withought having to faff with BCU

Fused links and Relays,no doubt,

the speaker wiring all goes into one block,
its located on passenger side, side of door above foot well, pull material back and you will find it, it lives next door to the fuel cut off /inertia switch,

oh and the door nets, you can just see it on the red interiored car here. Generic pics stolen from the tinter web lol

The second Pic shows the location of the winders.

I am going to fit them and leave the nets on, the other half almost never opens her window and I very rarely open mine. only time I open it is for drive thrus so maybe it will give me the excuse to stop being lazy and put some effort in to my food lol.

for 5 mins -i seriously would remove them

Failing that - take a blade to them and cut them as cleanly as you can

The rear sub btw
The punto doesn't work like other subs
IE
It actually steals the 2 rear speakers feeds and parrelle's off them so that 4 / 7 wires done

The other 3 are
Constant power - straight to battery fused at battery
Yes i know there is 1 on sub, but if a short before that subs fuse occours, you need 1 near battery to protect you

A remote wire - a Signal to tell sub to turn on via stereo - might need a pin adding for it

An earth - easily done with the earthing point in the boot :)

The 100W subs are pretty good,
they sound brilliant until shopping goes in boot,

Tesco bags spoil the fun, :D

These subs can sound abit fart'y after awhile, best to rip these out of low'mileaged
scrapped punto,

I am going to trace the wires from the sub all the way back to their origin and wire them up like they would be from factory, i'm a little OCD like that lol.

Going to see what its like with the nets on and then see what its like and if they **** me off then I will take them off. I actually think it would be a great place to stick my phone and smokes lol.

PS 38k mile granny owned donor car so sub should be like new in theory lol

remember, the car I am taking it out of has NO interior in it lol.

with that in mind, would it make sense to get the Body Control Unit or whatever it is for the Windows and the wiring I need??? will have 2hrs on it so will take out what I can, its not costing me anything extra on top what I have bought. its all just time and effort.

Mario we is going round in circles here mate,

The radio loom aint easy to get out ,half of it unplugs in the footwell as isaid earlier the rest is twined round other stuff behind the dashboard. if this is multiplexed punto your getting it out of one end of it will go to bcu too,

puntos are easy to work on but try working with wires behind the dash, this is another story,. :D

as of the bcu swap, swap it and you will be needing bus pass,
there is alot more too it than what you think,
