Hi, I bought this interface (Wireless using Bluetooth) to start checking my Fiat Punto Mark2:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290990738988

Have someone tried it personally with his Punto Mark 2 ? Hope it works. It comes with software but I also d/l another software called MultiECUScan, which connect to the car via such an ELM327 interface

That should work fine -- although please report back: as most people use wired (USB) connections; and I'm sure I've read somewhere that there is slightly less functionality with MES and Bluetooth dongles....

I too have a Bluetooth interface (this one) plugged in permanently -- which I use with a dedicated app, either my iPhone or iPad... -- which can be very useful (especially when one of your lambdas appears to be dying...!); but resort to MES, a netbook and a bunch of cables, when it comes to the nitty-gritty stuff (e.g. adjusting the mileage on a replacement speedo cluster...). I have a similar cheap ELM327 bluetooth dongle (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Mini-ELM327-v1-5-OBD2-OBDII-Bluetooth-Adapter-Auto-Scanner-Blue-UK-/151196831297?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2334088e41) which I connect to with the Torque app on Android. It works fine with my Seicento and can read all sensors and clear codes just fine.

One thing I can't seem to work out how to do is reset the airbag warning light, although I'm not sure if it's the dongle/app or just that it's something only Fiat can do?

Homeward I never leave mine plugged in with the fear of it draining the battery or something, have you noticed anything or is it fine to do?

Mine shuts down a few minutes after turning the ignition off... -- as this is built into the actual sensor... (but then it's a bit more sophisticated, I think, than your average dongle; and a bit more expensive...). I did check, though, before leaving it plugged in.... (y)

I'm pretty sure the OBD port stays live, though (as it powers up my handheld scanner, when I plug it in, without the key in...) -- so it may be worth checking: e.g. by seeing if Torque will communicate with it, before you turn the ignition on. (To be honest, I can't see it drawing a huge amount of current; but, then again, Bluetooth can be quite inefficient....)

PS: I can't do airbags (or PAS, etc.) with mine... -- although it does do live data-logging... -- still need a full set of adaptor (e.g. red, green and yellow) cables, and MES, for such things.

Think my dongle is rather below average :p

It seems to power up at any point, ignition on or off. I've not actually checked whether it works with the ignition off or turns itself off automatically, though I will do... :chin:

Mine handily has a blue light on it: which goes out, when it powers down... -- although, being paranoid, I did also check with the app that it wasn't still communicating, as well...!

Mine has 2 or 3 different lights on it that seem to flash in many ways, never really paid any attention though. The way I see it is if it lights up then it's plugged in correctly and probably working and that's all I need :p

(Not that it came with a manual or anything anyway)

Hi Guys, I received my ELM327 bluetooth interface bought fo 10Pounds over ebay.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get it working, and I am afraid it's not functioning well. I've connected it in the port below the fused and there is a constant red light (power on). Then there is a series of green and yellow LEDs flashing randomly. First I tried to read the ECU and other data through android apps via my smartphone bluetooth. The Interface is recognised and paired, but no data transfer takes place. Then I tried with original software (very old with last version being Blue Soleil V3.2 released in 2007) on laptop, and still did not get any success.

On my laptop, I could understand a bit more what's going on, and as I think, the bluetooth connection is via port 39-42, but the software expects data from port 1 to 8 (not 40-42), One can't change the port number from the supplied software (only port 1- 8 ).

No, but key was turned one stop so as dashboard and lights are on. I am not sure but I think it also failed with engine running. In general I get connection error while Bluetooth device is identified successfully... ?!

the advert shows it does live data so engine would have to run wouldnt it
other thing is its probably set up for windows xp servicepack 2?
some of the stuff early i have certainly does

Yes, I know, but on standby (ignition on but engine off) it should still connect and receive ECU readings and fault codes. :-(

are you on xp?
can you put your laptop into xp and try it again
you know you can change port settings in control panel/systems/hardware/device manager/ports

Here's a snapshot of the problem: OBDII identified and paired on BlueTooth devices, but connection failure ?!?!

Hi S&B - thanks for assisting. I'm on Win7. I have checked your tip and I have ports 1 to 39 all in use  Well, I still could assign my bluetooth port to port 1-8 despite three warnings from Win7 that I am risking conflicts. Despite it's cold and deep night here in Malta, I will take my laptop (and smartphone) to my car (parked 5min walk) and see if I get any progress. I'll report shortly. Still a bit disappointed if it I can't get a connection on smartpone. We see... :slayer:

Ziggy I've downloaded that too and forgot to try it! Off to my car with laptop!

I got some progress but when i think that I got the thing rocking, my laptop battery died off (it gives 25mins at most). The main issue was that I did not reset the system after installing Blue Soleil Bluetooth software and so the serial port was not assigned correctly. After that, I got a connection (half way) because when I tested on multiECUscan (20minute version) interfaces ELM, and OBD (for bluetooth) I got a thumbs up. Then I went to get fault codes, but I got nothing  and finally I clicked on SCAN and the process was taking too long and the laptop lost power. During the scanning I think I read engine unknown thingy ?!?

I will try again tomorrow, though I wish if you can suggest a good smartphone application that you have already been used with bluetooth and this ELM Interface. Testing on Laptop is a bit cumbersome.

I finally got it working with MultiECUScan, but not with any smartphone app, including the paid version of OBD Torque.

Well I have checked all parameters and errors and I found to have one persistent error: P0135: Lambda 1 heater above catalyser. I'll post in another forum:cry:
