Well, bit the bullet. Ordered it from Fiat who sells it for £35.14 in NI.

Please tell me the check strap functions by preventing the door from breaking off? Because if it doesn’t I don’t know why I bothered.

A total of £91 for that little surprise on Monday of the window sticking. Tempted to put signs up on all the other ones asking passengers to ‘only use in emergencies’ lol

Take the winders off. Sorted.

Do left / right / front / rear doors all have different check straps? You might find a rear or passenger side strap will do the job and compared to driver's door will be nearly unused.

In a breakers of course.

Fair point.

One of the irritations of our 2017 lounge is that the check-strap doesn't have the midway 'bump' so that you can park the door partially open. I'll wager there's more Mk4 Pandas with door-edge rash than Mk3s. Wonder if you can retrofit.

Would uploading a photo of the check strap I picked up today help?

It might - as might the fitting steps.

Also, something struck me looking at your door pics - I wonder if there's an opportunity to stick some padding/foam to the plastic door card - say 1cm thick. Might that reduce resonance/noise?

The panel is already a lot more nose insulated than most cars. You could put waterproof padding inside the door panel up against the outer panel but it will be a fiddly job and may not make much difference.

This is the noise kit for the car. Ask the suppliers what they can offer for the door panels. It has to be waterproof material or trapped damp will cause corrosion inside the door.

Cheers.

The Mk4 (1.2) is a bit quieter than the Mk3 (which isn't bad below 70). Not sure I could muster the spirit to do the door-skin lining. Like trying to dress a kitten as Robbie Williams through a letterbox.

Ive done it on much older cars. Self adhesive material was impossible as the guy was too easily snagged. But material could be got in and then stick with special (high temperature) adhesive sold for car trimming.

You would have to take a door apart to see if it's possible. Padding behind the door card almost certainly wont have enough space to be useful even if you can get the car back on over it.

I haven’t forgot to post photos of the strap... but I’ve spent all day looking for where I left it. Hopefully it turns up before the motor for the window is due to get here

This could be solved by replacing the regulator system. It is pretty easy. The regulator costs about 75€.

You can follow the instructions for the Fiat Panda in this video: [ame]https://youtu.be/rqpmlELLF0k[/ame]

The mechanism on my driver's side window stops operating. It seems like something that has to do with the automatic stop function. When the weather gets cold it start working again... My passenger side does not have this auto-stop function and never gets stuck.

Is there a way to disable this "convenience" function?
