Hey guys

I'm just doing.some reading and YouTube watching and recently started.learning about EGR Valves.

Can anyone shed light on:

1) Do all cars have EGR - as it always seems to be diesel engines when I watch.people work on them

2) Does my car have one: GP 1.4 Tjet sporting 2009?

Thanks again

Hi Emmerson,

I don't think so,

petrol engine needs a precise air/fuel ration (14:1 ish) to ignite while the diesel engine just burn what it can of the injected fuel with the available oxygen; less fuel: less power (torque), too much fuel: black smoke...
The aim of the EGR is to recycle a part of the exhaust gas in the combustion chamber to reduce its temperature so does the toxics emissions. This amount of gas (without much oxygen in it) can't burn petrol and even in diesel is recycled only at partial load and revs when the engine doesn't need full power.

BR's, Bernie
